CASE STUDIES

Andrew Wallis Curator, The Guards Museum Age: 54

13 years in the Territorial Army Volunteer Reserve during which I sustained a serious back injury which resulted in chronic low back pain. Some years later, this led to a laminectomy (removal of two discs and the fusing of three vertebras) and 10 years of constant discomfort.

I approached my first appointment with healthy scepticism and was stunned by the quantum of response from remarkably little bodily contact. The unbelievable sense of release was hard to take in and subsequent therapy sessions have dramatically reduced the levels of pain and discomfort which had become very much part of my life. I have never been one to enthuse about anything but Jo Lunn is quite remarkable in both her explanations and her treatments.

I am very happy to recommend the Bowen Technique to anyone who has exhausted conventional remedies – the effect is quite extraordinary.

Chris

Chris, who was injured by an IED explosion in Helmand province earlier this year, received severe facial injuries and was thrown 20 or 30 feet away, landing with full body armour on top of him. He lost a lot of blood and a tooth, and there were concerns for his sight.  However, when he returned home to recuperate, other problems emerged in that his upper and lower body seemed to be moving quite independently from each other. As a trained Bowen practitioner, Chris’s mother Marylin decided to see if it could help her son and says:

He took little persuasion to try Bowen, which surprised me actually. I did the basic moves, turned him over, put 1 move across his neck, and his face turned black. Presumably, all the bruising, which had not yet shown, emerged in an instant. By the end of the day, not only had that cleared, but Chris was moving quite fluidly.

Mark Perkins

Former solider Mark Perkins decided to try Bowen to help relieve his chronic back trouble and says:

Bowen has not only cured me of chronic back trouble, but also continues to resolve work related aches and pains.  I served in the British Army for 17 years and know first hand what soldiers experience and endure. I can recommend Bowen to help servicemen recover more quickly from their injuries and also to help restore normal muscle function post recovery.  The benefits of Bowen reach further than just helping with physical injuries; the overall feeling of well being that I receive from treatment leads me to believe that it could also be of benefit to those dealing with mental traumas.

John Gould

After being involved in an roadside explosion, whilst on military duties in the early 90′s, John Gould suffered severe injuries to his shoulders and spinal trauma and a over a decade later, still suffered from extreme stiffness, backpain and pains in the soles of his feet.

After just one Bowen treatment, John felt that the tightness had gone from his shoulders and back and the pain in his feet had eased. He also felt much calmer within himself and has found that his sleep has improved too.

Over the years, I have tried everything to relieve the stiffness and pain in my back, shoulders and legs, from physio to pain killers. I was even prescribed quortazone injections for the soles of my feet to relieve the pain but after a few months it just came back. I am amazed at the difference Jo and the Bowen Technique has made in just one treatment and will certainly be coming back for more!
